My First toe up !!!

okay i finally finished my daughters socks .. she really loves thems ...

Hi all My name is Therese and I'm from Lawndale,Calif. i have been knitting for a while now ... say like 3 or 4 years full force .. and i just love knitting i have knitted many socks on dpn, and learned how to do socks on 2 circular needles .. i love that method the most .. and now i have learned how to do the Toe up .. man i just love this .. mind you this is my first one .. but i love it .. i am knitting the Monkey sock from knitty.com , this sock is so beautiful .. i learned how to do the turkish cast on .. from it was easy ... here is my progress so far

Lace Sock Progress and New Project

Here is my progress on my first toe-up sock from the Knitting Lingerie Style book. It's not perfect - a few errors in the lace do to me forgetting if I'm on the knit row or lace pattern row, but for the most part it's looking good. It's a really easy pattern and I'm enjoying the quick progress. I have about 3 more inches before completing the first sock in the pair. I think that the toe-up sock makes a lot of sense now that I've started to work one. I'm sure the next one will go even faster. Much better than the reverse, I think.

Knitting Lingerie Style - Toe Up Sock Pattern

I have just cast on for the toe-up stocking from Joan McGowan-Michael's new "Knitting Lingerier Style" book. This will be my first toe-up sock). I have a question about the directions: I don't understand what it means for working the second half of the toe:

"Pick up and knit 1 st from first half of toe, knit to end, pick up and knit 1 st from first half of toe."


Can anyone explain?

Finally finished!

Look at all the wonderful socks! :)

I finally finished my first pair of toe-ups and gifted them to a friend of mine. She was kind enough to take pictures for me to share on my blog. (If you want to follow the socks progress, click on the -toe-up socks- category in the side bar)

They were made with a figure-8 toe and sherman heel. While this heel, imo, is easier than the wrap & turn short row, I'm still having trouble with it - mostly the knit encroachment doesn't look as good as the purl encroachment. :( I know it has something to do with how I'm picking up the stitch below, but I haven't quite figured it out yet.

Hope it's ok to still stick around, even though my first toe-ups are done ... I don't quite feel like I've mastered the technique.

My First Sock

Hello everyone, I'm Laura but my friends call me Loz so you guys can to! This is my first post even though I've been a member for ages. It's so lovely to be part of the knitting fro now that I've started my first sock well not quite, it's a toe and a foot! Below are all the details about it.

Pattern: Universal toe-up sock formula (can be found on Knitty)
Yarn: Freedom Spirit 100% wool by Twilleys of Stamford, shade 507
Gauge: 6st per inch
Needles: 5 x dpns 3.75mm birch

Yesterday morning I had this:


And by yesterday evening I had this, I've only a couple of rows till I start the heel! My foot looks huge hehe and I suppose it is but then a girl 6ft 2" wouldn't really suit little feet *_*

Toe Up Newbie

Thanks for letting me join your KAL. A few days ago I finished my first toe up socks. I loved every moment of making them. My only problem is the "Falling Leaves" pattern from Knitty.com doesn't show up. I used "Buckeye" by Claudia Hand Paint Yarns. The colors are great put the pooling is not at all flatterning for the pattern. I'll know better next time. What do you all think?
